New website making a splash!

Online strategies that drive live attendance - that’s the New Economy for destination venues, from stadium concerts to theme parks. The Donaldson Group recently developed the Mystic Aquarium website with a focus on marketing.

BUSINESS CHALLENGE

Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration, is one of New England's premiere destinations for entertainment and education. Although a non-profit institution, the Aquarium relies heavily on individual and group ticket sales.

In redesigning their website, Mystic Aquarium was looking for a solution that would continue to deliver extensive education and information as "the next best thing to being there." Our goal was to provide a site that sparks "I want to visit", while cutting costs dramatically, with an inexpensive, easy-to-use content management system.

SOLUTION

A website that reflects the Aquarium's mix of natural fun and fascination - an electronic resource for all things Mystic, from Beluga whales to the Titanic work of Dr. Robert Ballard, renowned global oceanographer and pioneer in the emerging field of deep-sea archaeology and deep-sea geology. The Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration website is a virtual marketing promotion - aimed at bringing people in and selling tickets. The site now provides:

  • Seasonal Program and Special Tour offers
  • Memberships
  • Non-technical in-house content management
